DAV Auxiliary Past National Commander Evelynne Dunn

■ Auxiliary Past National Commander Evelynne Dunn died Dec. 27, 2017. She was elected to the organization’s highest office at the 1997 national convention in Las Vegas.

A charter life member of DAV Auxiliary Unit 13 in Las Vegas, Dunn held many leadership positions on the local, state and national levels. She was instrumental in forming the Women Helping Women program in southern Nevada, a support group for wives of ill and injured veterans. Besides being an active volunteer at the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center Outpatient Clinic, she was also a DAV Transportation Network driver. Dunn was eligible for DAV Auxiliary membership through her late husband, Fred, an Army veteran of World War II.

Her participation at all levels of the organization instilled a keen understanding of the many complex issues facing veterans and their families. She will be remembered as an exemplary leader, tireless volunteer and a graceful mentor with a sincere commitment to serving veterans.

“Evelynne was extremely dedicated to the spouses and caregivers of our nation’s disabled veterans. We remember her for her creativity and tenacity,” said Auxiliary National Adjutant Pat Kemper “She touched many lives through her service, and we celebrate her many accomplishments.”
