DAV Auxiliary Past National Commander Rose Marie Schilpp

■ Auxiliary Past National Commander Rose Marie Schilpp died Dec. 24, 2017. She was elected to the organization’s highest office at the 1988 National Convention in Dallas.

Her unwavering commitment to volunteerism and service led her to serve in many offices and chairmanships on the local, state and national levels prior to her election as national commander.

After retiring as director of a pre-elementary educational system, she dedicated herself to her passion for making a difference in the lives of ill and injured veterans and their families. She earned great respect in her local community of Independence, Mo., as well as the Kansas City VA Medical Center where she volunteered for a number of years, including serving as a Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service representative. Schilpp joined the organization through her late husband, James Schilpp.

Schilpp is remembered for her passionate service, enduring positivity and unique sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.

“Commander Schilpp cared deeply about the Auxiliary, our nation’s veterans and their families,” said Auxiliary National Commander Craig Johniken. “We remember her contributions and wish her surviving family members our deepest sympathies.”
