CHAPTER & DEPARTMENT Helping veterans in the community... Members of Chapter 17 and Auxiliary Unit 17 of Universal City, Texas, provide meals and necessities to veterans in the substance abuse clinic and homeless shelter at the Audie Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio. They provide this service every quarter, feeding 75 to 100 veterans each time. Chapter 10 of Fairfax, Va., received the National Mall and Memorial Parks Group Volunteer Award from the National Park Service. Chapter 10 received the award for the second straight year based on its members’ volunteer efforts in cleaning the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in Washington D.C. Thankful for their service... Members of Chapter 61 in Seguin, Texas, participated in Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation Night and fundraiser at their local restaurant. In addition to raising funds to support the chapter’s service initiatives, the annual event allows DAV members to meet and socialize with other veterans in their communities.
